Learn what each of our segmentation rules mean.

We've recently released Phase 2 of our Smart Segments feature. The conditions currently available for segmentation can be combined in a single segment by adding multiple rules. Below are explanations of conditions currently available.

Campaign Engagement 

  • Has opened any emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have opened any number of emails within your set amount of days. 

  • Has not opened all emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not opened all of your emails within your set amount of days. This segment is great for cleaning unengaged subscribers off your list when combined with "Subscriber Added More Than (# Days) ago".

  • Has clicked any emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have clicked on any number of emails within your set amount of days. This segment can help you identify your most engaged subscribers when increasing sending frequency during sales holidays.

  • Has not clicked all emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not clicked on any of your emails within your set amount of days.

  • Has received any emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have received any type of email within your set amount of days.

  • Has not received any emails in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not received any emails of any kind in your set amount of days.

  • Has clicked SMS in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have clicked on any number of SMS within your set amount of days. This segment can help you identify your most engaged subscribers when increasing sending frequency during sales holidays.

  • Has not clicked all SMS in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not clicked on any of your SMS within your set amount of days.

  • Has received any SMS in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have received any type of SMS within your set amount of days.

  • Has not received any SMS in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not received any SMS of any kind in your set amount of days.

Campaigns

  • Has opened sent email campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who opened a specific email campaign.

  • Has not opened sent email campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't open a specific email campaign.

  • Has clicked sent email campaign  - Create a segment of subscribers who clicked in a specific email campaign.

  • Has not clicked sent email campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't click in a specific email campaign.

  • Has received sent email campaign in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who received a specific email campaign in a set number of days.

  • Has not received sent email campaign in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't receive a specific email campaign in a set number of days.

  • Has received sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who received a specific SMS campaign.

  •  Has not received sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't receive a specific SMS campaign.

  • Has clicked sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who clicked in a specific SMS campaign.

  • Has not clicked sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't click in a specific SMS campaign.

  • Has received sent SMS campaign in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who received a specific SMS campaign in a set number of days.

  • Has not received sent SMS campaign in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't receive a specific SMS campaign in a set number of days.

  • Has received sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who received a specific SMS campaign.

  • Has not received sent SMS campaign - Create a segment of subscribers who didn't receive a specific SMS campaign.

    Subscription status

  • Subscribed to SMS

  • Subscribed to email

Purchase Activity

  • Has ordered in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased from your store within your set number of days.

  • Has not ordered in (# Days) - Create a segment of subscribers who have not purchased from your store within your set number of days. This segment is great for sending introductory offers to non-buyers or to automate a win-back campaign.

  • Orders (# Total) - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased more or less than a specified number of times from your store

  • Customer spend ($ Total) - Create a segment of subscribers who have spent more or less than a specified $ amount from your store

  • Customer spend ($ Average) - Create a segment of subscribers who spend more or less than a specified $ amount from your store on average

Product Specific Purchase History

  • Has purchased product - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased specific items from your store. This segment can be used to cross-sell other products post-purchase.

  • Has not purchased product - Create a segment of subscribers who have not purchased specific items from your store. 

  • Has purchased any product - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased any product from your store.

  • Has not purchased any product - Create a segment of subscribers who have never purchased from your store.

  • Has purchased product containing - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased any product containing a particular word.

  • Has not purchased product containing - Create a segment of subscribers who have not purchased products containing a particular word.

Collection Specific Purchase History

  • Has purchased from collection - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased from specific collections on your store. 

  • Has not purchased from collection - Create a segment of subscribers who have not purchased from specific collections on your store. 

Cart Activity

  • Has abandoned any product - Create a segment of subscribers who have abandoned any cart over time.

  • Has abandoned product - Create a segment of subscribers who have abandoned a specific product(s) in their cart over time.

  • Has abandoned from collection - Create a segment of subscribers who have abandoned products from a specific collection(s) in their cart over time.

*SmartrMail does not consider if the cart was recovered. If an abandoned cart was created for the subscriber, they will be added to the segment.

Date/Days Added

  • Subscriber Added After Date - Create a segment of subscribers who were added to SmartrMail after a static date.

  • Subscriber Added Before Date - Create a segment of subscribers who were added to SmartrMail before a static date.

  • Subscriber Added (# Days) ago- Create a segment of subscribers who were added to SmartrMail more or less than X days ago.

Vendor

  • Has purchased from vendor - Create a segment of subscribers who have purchased a product from a specific vendor or location

  • Has not purchased from vendor - Create a segment of subscribers who have not purchased a product from a specific vendor or location

Location

  • From Location - Create a segment of subscribers who are from a certain location

  • Not from Location - Create a segment of subscribers who are not from a certain location

Company

  • Company name is - Create a segment of subscribers with a particular company name

  • Company name is not - Create a segment of subscribers who do not have a particular company name

  • Company name contains - Create a segment of subscribers who have a particular word in their company name

  • Company name does not contain - Create a segment of subscribers who do not have a particular word in their company name

  • Company name is blank - Create a segment of subscribers who do not have a company name associated with them

  • Company name is not blank - Create a segment of subscribers who do have a company name associated with them

Email

  • Email contains - Create a segment of subscribers with a particular word or string of characters in their email address. E.g., '.gov'

  • Email does not contain - Create a segment of subscribers who do not have a particular word or string of characters in their email address

    SMS

  • Phone number contains - Create a segment of subscribers with a particular country code.

  • Phone number does not contain - Create a segment of subscribers who do not have a particular country code.

Custom Property:

  • With a Text field - Create a segment of subscribers based on an imported text value (is, is not, contains etc.)

  • With a Number field - Create a segment of subscribers based on a number (is, more than , less than etc.)

  • With a Date field - Create a segment of subscribers based on a date (date is, or is before X, after X etc.)

  • With a Birthday date - Create a segment of subscribers based on their birthday date (today, in X days, is month X etc.)

Note: Custom property will only show as an option if at least one custom field has been imported manually in your SmartrMail account

Shopify Rules

Note: the following features are only available for Shopify Stores.

Tags

  • Tag is - Create a segment of subscribers marked with a specific Tag in your Shopify store

  • Tag is not - Create a segment of subscribers not marked with a specific Tag in your Shopify store

Neto Rules

Note: the following features are only available for Neto Stores. To read more about these different options within Neto, click here.


Location

  • Post Code is between - Create a segment of subscribers living in within specific areas in Australia (only accepts numbers)

  • Post Code isn't between - Create a segment of subscribers living outside of specific areas in Australia (only accepts numbers)

Classifications

  • From Classification1 - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who fall under Classification1 (you must enter the 'name' of the classification in letters, i.e. "VIP" in the box provided). 

  • Not from Classification1 - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who do not fall under Classification1.

  • From Classification2 - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who fall under Classification2 (you must enter the 'name' of the classification in letters, i.e. "Small Business" in the box provided). 

  • Not from Classification2 - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who do not fall under Classification2.

User Groups

  • From User Group - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who fall under a certain User Group (you must enter the 'name' of the User Group in letters - not the code - i.e. "Retail" in the box provided)

  • Not from User Group - Create a segment of subscribers from your store who do not fall under this User Group.

Web Status

One option only - within, select between:

  • Active - Create a segment of subscribers with personal websites

  • Inactive - Create a segment of subscribers with personal websites disabled

  • Blank - Create a segment of subscribers with personal websites enabled, but no website was given

Account Manager is / is not

Create a segment of subscribers linked to /not linked to one of your account Manager


Sales Channel is / is not

Create a segment of subscribers who purchased through specific channels
