Choosing the right number for sending SMS can have a big impact on how many sales you generate. Different number types have variable levels of throughput, control what you can send, and who you can send to.

In this article, we go over the different number types, including what they allow you to do, how fast they send messages, and where you can use them.

Getting Your Sending Number

When you sign up for an SMS subscription you automatically get 1 number for use in either the US or Australia.

Shopify, BigCommerce and Woocommerce stores will get a toll-free US number.

Neto stores will get an Alphanumeric sender ID.

If you'd like to add more numbers you can in the settings page under the SMS tab.

Toll-free numbers

To send to US and Canadian numbers you'll need a toll-free number starting with +1. Toll-free numbers are the new standard in SMS marketing and at the moment are the only numbers available within SmartrMail for US senders.

Toll-free numbers have high throughput and can send 200 messages per second. Subscribers can also reply directly to toll-free numbers to manage opt-in status.

1 toll-free number is included in non-Neto subscriptions, and additional toll-free numbers will cost $2.00 per month.

Alphanumeric IDs

Alphanumeric IDs are the standard for SMS marketing in Australia and are the only available number type for sending to +61 numbers.

Alphanumeric IDs are high throughput and can send 200 messages per second. However subscribers cannot reply to messages sent from an Alphanumeric ID, therefore it is required to include an unsubscribe link you in your message.

You can only have 1 Alphanumeric sender ID per account.
