Page backgrounds on your emails enable you to set a background colour or background image surrounding your email content.

Before you start

Page background images will show on the most popular email clients. However, some versions of inbox providers such as Outlook desktop do not support this type of layout. As a result, it is recommended to set a similar background color to your image to keep the look and feel of your email the same on these clients.

Background images will show on:

Gmail, iOS Mail, Apple Mail, Yahoo!

Background images won't show on:

Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2019, Outlook.com

Adding a Page Background Color

To set the page background colour. Click the border of your campaign within the email composer.

Next, turn the Page background ON and select a BG Color

Other Considerations

Background Images on Individual Blocks

SmartrMail supports background images for header and footer backgrounds. We don't support background images for individual body blocks.

Image Size Requirements

Patterns like the example image above, work best for page background images. The image will display at its full size and repeat if the subscriber's screen is larger than the image.

We recommend keeping images between 1500 and 2500 pixels wide. The recommended image height depends on how much content you’ve got in your email, but it’s important to keep in mind that larger images can load slower.
